The Relish that's Better than Cranberry Sauce

Call it a Thanksgiving tragedy if you will, but I never remember have cranberry sauce at the Thanksgiving table. Even after experiencing "pure" cranberry sauce (both the jellied and the whole fruit version), I still prefer my family's 5-Fruit Relish.

Whether you don't like cranberry sauce or are just in the mood to switch things up, definitely give this a try!

5 Fruit Relish

Ingredients

  • 2 large oranges

  • 20 ounce can of pineapple chunks (drained)

  • 16 ounce can of pear halves (drained)

  • 12 ounce package of whole fresh cranberries

  • 1 cup dark seedless raisins

  • 1/2 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Cut each unpeeled orange into 8 sections - discard seeds. Cut pineapple and pears into 1/2 inch pieces

  2. In a blender, oranges and cranberries until coarsely chopped. Work in batches if necessary. Pour into large bowl.

  3. Stir in raisins, sugar, pineapples, and pears. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

I know it may seem a little weird to leave the oranges unpeeled, but the punch of flavor from that zest is just too good to pass up! Plus, the fiber is good for you.

Let me know how you like it!
